Project Description

The university seeks to redesign the Chart of Accounts (COA) structure in the Banner ERP system that serves as the backbone for financial recordkeeping and analysis. The COA foundation is leveraged for all general ledger financial transactions, reporting, and analysis in the Banner Finance module, but is also utilized for other modules that originate transactions such as Banner Student, Banner HR, and Banner Grants.

The COA is owned and managed by the Controller’s Office within the Division of Fiscal Services. The Controller will serve as the Project Owner for the project. The core project team will include representation from major stakeholder units, including Fiscal Services, Provost Administration, Information Technology Services, Budget & Planning, HR/Payroll, Business Intelligence, and Communications. A larger population of stakeholders will be involved in validating the proof of concept and providing feedback, but decision-making will rest with the Core Project Team under the supervision of executive sponsors.
